Started discovering and validating new materials for 3D printer prosthetics with Instalim and Center of Garage.

(Head office: Sumida-ku, Tokyo; President: Yoshinobu Osaka; hereinafter "Glocalink") and Instalim Corporation (Head office: Sumida-ku, Tokyo; President: Yasushi Tokushima; hereinafter "Instalim"), a tenant company of the Center of Garage (hereinafter "COG"), have started to discover and verify new materials that will contribute to the performance, comfort and productivity of 3D printer prosthetic feet. (headquartered in Sumida-ku, Tokyo; Yasushi Tokushima, President; hereinafter "Instalim"), a resident company of COG, to discover and verify new materials that will contribute to improving the performance, comfort, and productivity of 3D printer prosthetics.

Instalim is a venture company dedicated to realizing a world where everyone has access to quality prosthetics. By integrating a proprietary 3D printer dedicated to prosthetic feet and 3D CAD that enables automated design through machine learning, we provide the world with prosthetic feet that combine short delivery times, high quality, and affordability. This allows us to pursue a fit and durability optimized for the individual body, helping people regain the freedom to walk and live independently. We work with medical institutions, prosthetists, and researchers to accumulate design standards, reduce regional disparities through telemetry and cloud-based production, speed up fit adjustments and maintenance with data, and reduce environmental impact through a sustainable supply chain.

The prosthetic foot field requires both light weight and high strength and durability, comfort when wearing, as well as stable molding and short lead time. In this demonstration, we will gather promising candidate materials from academia and industry, and conduct detailed verification of molding stability, dimensional reproducibility, surface properties, warpage/shrinkage, and other molding conformities using a 3D printer. Then, mechanical and environmental resistance tests such as tensile, bending, impact, fatigue, and moisture/heat resistance will be conducted to quantify the safety zone and margin required for a prosthetic leg. We will compile a list of materials for practical use, recommended modeling conditions by printer and material, summaries of results from major tests, and prototype prosthetic feet with multiple specifications for verification in the medical and welfare fields. (By June 30, 2026)

Instalim is responsible for defining prosthetic foot design requirements, modeling test specimens and prototype prostheses, overseeing the entire evaluation process, and coordinating with test collaborators.
Glocalink will match you with materials researchers and manufacturers, develop and provide a verification environment, and assist with test design.

COG will continue to create an environment for the implementation of manufacturing-related technologies and collaboration among companies to create opportunities for technologies to be implemented in society from COG.
