Using Instalim and the Center of Garage, we have begun exploring and validating coloring technologies for flexible materials

GLOCALINK Inc.(Headquarters: Sumida Ward, Tokyo; Representative Director: Yoshinobu Osaka; hereinafter “Glocalink”) has, center of a garage("COG"), a resident company ofInstalim, Inc.(Headquarters: Sumida Ward, Tokyo; Representative Director: Yasushi Tokushima; hereinafter “Instalim”) will begin exploring and verifying coloring technologies for flexible materials that will lead to further performance improvements and added value for 3D-printed prosthetic legs through collaboration with external research institutions and companies possessing relevant technologies.

Instalim is a venture company dedicated to realizing a world where everyone has access to quality prosthetics. By integrating a proprietary 3D printer dedicated to prosthetic feet and 3D CAD that enables automated design through machine learning, we provide the world with prosthetic feet that combine short delivery times, high quality, and affordability. This allows us to pursue a fit and durability optimized for the individual body, helping people regain the freedom to walk and live independently. We work with medical institutions, prosthetists, and researchers to accumulate design standards, reduce regional disparities through telemetry and cloud-based production, speed up fit adjustments and maintenance with data, and reduce environmental impact through a sustainable supply chain.

As a new area of development, we are also exploring coloring technologies for prosthetic sockets. By matching the color of the prosthetic socket to each user’s skin tone, we aim to create new added value that meets the needs of the wearer. Currently, while we are collaborating with dye manufacturers, there are challenges regarding the technology for fixing dyes and pigments to the material; in particular, there is a need for coating technology that offers high durability, especially on flexible materials.

To address this challenge, we will leverage COG’s technology network and connections with tenant companies to explore opportunities for collaboration with firms possessing relevant technologies and expertise—such as durable coatings for flexible materials. With COG as the hub, we aim to connect companies with diverse technologies to solve technical challenges that were previously difficult to address individually and to create new value for prosthetic legs (through March 31, 2027).

Instalim aims to develop prosthetic legs that offer higher performance and better meet user needs by advancing the design, material development, and evaluation of prosthetic legs, as well as through joint development with external research institutions and technology companies.

Glocalink supports the research, development, and societal implementation of Instarim by creating opportunities for collaboration with technology providers, researchers, and companies through the COG network.

COG will continue to create an environment for the implementation of manufacturing-related technologies and collaboration among companies to create opportunities for technologies to be implemented in society from COG.
